A little history lesson:
The starter software was bundled and sold together with the Eiki NPC-1 serial device server by Eiki International – United States, Eiki Industrial – Japan, and Eiki Deutschland – Germany. Product was introduced 2003 and Bitlogix offered software support to Eiki customers. As far as I remember this was one of the first projector control software packages for LAN and WAN on the market.

Users can upgrade the NPC-1 starter software and purchase NetControl 1.10 for a reduced license fee. Our sales team knows more details.

We just completed the ViewSonic code modules for our upcoming NetControl 2.0 projector control software. This means that NetControl supports the latest ViewSonic DLP network projectors. Here is the list of all new ViewSonic DLP network projectors:

ViewSonic PJD6220
ViewSonic PJD6221
ViewSonic PJD6230
ViewSonic PJD6240
ViewSonic PJD6241
ViewSonic PJD6251
ViewSonic PJD6381
ViewSonic PJD6531w

All ViewSonic projectors have a RJ45 port and can be connected directly to the network. NetControl 2.0 directly communicates with the projectors over the network. No extra control hardware is needed or required (sure, that’s why we developed NetControl software). We actually tested NetControl 2.0 in a test environment with around 600 virtual ViewSonic projectors. Everything works in “real-time” and so far we are more than satisfied. Support and Marketing will add a download link within the next days. Enjoy!

This Oracle TechCast was actually really interesting. Especially the fact that HotSpot and JRockit VM could be merged within the next 1-2 years is exiting. We will definitely follow closely this development.

I didn’t follow the #opensolaris-meeting but I heard some good news about the future of OpenSolaris. Sounds very promising.
